Le melodie che per qualche motivo conquistano il mondo

Ci sono canzoni che oggettivamente non possono non essere definite eccezionali.
Ho già parlato nel post di giugno a proposito di quelle parole che unite alla giusta melodia ti si stampano in mente in maniera indelebile.
Bene, oggi parlo di una canzone che ti tocca ancor di più l'animo, una canzone che ha una storia dietro da non crederci.
Over the rainbow.
Fu cantata per la prima volta da Judy Garland nel 1939, vinse poi l'oscar come miglior canzone originale. Negli Stati Uniti è praticamente conosciuta da chiunque, l'hanno interpretata: Cliff Richard, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dione, Chet Baker, Cosmic Gate, Dream Theater, Ella Fitzgerald, Eric Clapton, Erroll Garner, Eva Cassidy, Frank Sinatra, Guns N’ Roses, Jewel, Joe Satriani, Kenny G, Marusha, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, Bill Frisell, Phish, Ray Charles, Rufus Wainwright, Stan Kenton, Stanley Jordan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tom Jones, Tony Bennet, Tori Amos, Yngwie Malmsteen, Caterina Valente, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, Harlie Haden, Joe Lovano, Sarah Vaughan, Keith Jarrett.
Attualmente è ritornata in auge grazie alla versione stupenda di un cantante hawaiano scomparso da una decina d'anni che si chiamava Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, che canta accompagnandosi con l'ukulele.

Sembra che la canzone sia stata usata anche per lo spot della Fiat Croma e per l'ultima puntata nella serie di ER, oltre ad essere stata la canzone cantata al funerale di Marylin Monroe.
